Coyote Point Systems, Inc., the leading provider of application acceleration and load balancing solutions for mid-market companies, announced today at Interop New York over a dozen significant performance, virtualization and energy-efficiency enhancements for its Equalizer GX Series load balancing and application acceleration product line.

The enhancements include VLAN support which can double aggregate throughput, an expanded toolset for intelligent load balancing of VMware InfrastructureTM and a new energy-efficiency capability to automatically power servers on and off. The enhancements are incorporated in the new EQ/OS Version 8.6, the latest version of Coyote Point's advanced traffic management operating system for its Equalizer GX series product line, which ranges from the entry-level E250GX load balancer to the enterprise-class E650GX all-in-one application delivery appliance.

Enhancements in EQ/OS Version 8.6 include:

* One of the more technically challenging enhancements, 802.1Q VLAN support enables customers to segregate physical networks using tagged VLANs and use these VLANs for high performance computing (HPC) clusters, server networks or management. This can result in a doubling of aggregate network throughput capacity in certain network topologies -- up to 2.6Gbps for the E650GX.

* A complete overhaul of the failover subsystem, which now provides secure SSL-encrypted communication between failover pairs. Users can now configure failover pairs to share a much larger range of configuration information, and the user interface has been upgraded.

* The Equalizer Series' VLBTM virtualization load balancing and Smart ControlTM both gain a range of new rulesets and capabilities. An industry first, Smart Control can now physically power servers on and off using the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI).

* A simple way to "clone" existing clusters, for example, to duplicate an existing cluster but with a different IP address or port, with a single mouse click.

* Easy software upgrades via the EQ/OS web user interface.

* An improved user interface UI to make page rendering faster and more responsive.

"A decade of innovation continues with our latest EQ/OS release, including enhanced performance, energy efficiency and ease of use that's important for our customers whether they're using a load balancing system for the first time or serving millions of requests on a high-traffic website," said Bill Kish, Coyote Point's Alpha Coyote. "For the rapidly growing segment of customers that are using server virtualization for their web application workloads, we are continuing to enhance our ground-breaking virtualization load balancing with Equalizer VLBTM and Equalizer VLB AdvancedTM functionality for monitoring and managing virtualized application performance within VMware infrastructures."
